Philip MeyerPhilip Meyer
Knight Chair in Journalism, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

Professor Meyer holds the Knight Chair in Journalism at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has spent half of his career practicing journalism and the other half trying to improve it through teaching and research. His reporting career included 16 years as a Washington correspondent for Knight Ridder. His Precision Journalism, now in its fourth edition, was written after he studied quantitative research methods during his Nieman year at Harvard. Those same methods went into his other work, including Ethical Journalism. His current research looks for ways to measure quality in journalism and find connections between quality and financial success.
