Jessica Coen

Editor, Gawker.com

Since taking over as editor of Gawker over a year ago, 25-year-old Jessica Coen has spent the better part of her days compiling humorous New York media commentary and gossip, unabashedly soaking her insights with irony and cynicism. With her co-editor Jesse Oxfeld, Coen caters to a broad, international readership thirsty for uncensored media observation. In the past year, the site's readership has more than doubled.

Prior to her work at the flagship site for Gawker Media, Ms. Coen taught high-school English in South Central Los Angeles through Americorp affiliate program Teach for America and later spent time fetching lattes at a major Hollywood studio.

Ms. Coen graduated from from the University of Michigan in 2002 and currently lives in lower Manhattan, where she finds that her 5^th floor walkup eliminates any need for a gym membership.
