Brian Hecht
CEO, Kikucall
Brian Hecht is a proven new-media entrepreneur with years of experience launching and managing media and marketing properties.
He is currently the CEO of Kikucall, Inc., a marketing firm specializing in building promotions using the text-message feature now common on U.S. cellphones. As CEO, Brian oversees all operations, and plays an active role in guiding the strategic direction of Kikucall client campaigns.
From 1996 until 2002, he was the CEO of enews, inc., the leading Internet-based magazine subscription agent. At the helm of enews, Brian managed a staff of nearly 150 and attracted investments from venture capitalists and strategic media partners, including Madison Dearborn Partners, Hachette Filipacchi Magazines, Time Inc., and Barnes & Noble. His client base included every major U.S. consumer magazine publisher. In 2001, Brian engineered the sale of the company to Barnes & Noble. Brian has also worked in traditional media, and has held positions at The New Republic magazine, ABC News, and NBC News in London.
Brian holds a degree from Harvard, where he was managing editor of The Harvard Crimson and a Ledecky Fellow at Harvard Magazine; he currently serves on the Board of Harvard Magazine. He is an accomplished public speaker, and has made many television appearances, including Fox News Channel, CNNfn, and others. Major publications that have written about Brian and his business activities include The New York Times, USA Today, and Investors Business Daily. He is also a writer and editor; he has covered politics for The New Republic and until recently authored a food column for a regional magazine.
In 2003, Brian returned to his native New York after six years living in Washington DC. He ran the Washington DC Marathon in 2002 and the New York Marathon in 2003.
