Dean Newton

Vice President of Entertainment Media, InfoSpace Mobile
InfoSpace is one of the world’s largest providers of digital wireless media, such as ringtones, master audio, phone graphics, animations and games. Newton is responsible for structuring and negotiating entertainment, content, new media and wireless-related transactions, as well as carrier, distribution, billing and hosting agreements. Formulating the company’s licensing strategy, DRM and privacy policies, and patent and trademark initiatives are also among his current responsibilities.
Prior to joining the company, Newton served as Vice President, Business & Legal Affairs for 550 Digital Media Ventures, Inc., responsible for various business, legal and operational matters for Sony Broadband Entertainment’s technology venture capital/development subsidiary. Previously Newton worked as an attorney at the firm Gang, Tyre, Ramer & Brown in Beverly Hills, California where his practice included representing recording artists Jennifer Lopez, Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, Tina Turner, various music producers, writers, entertainment and new media companies in entertainment-related transactions. He began his career in corporate practice with Los Angeles based firm Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP.
Newton is a graduate of Harvard University, where he received both B.A. and J.D. degrees. He currently resides in Los Angeles.
