Karen Rice Gardiner
Director of Creative Services, National Geographic Society

Ms. Gardiner, who joined the Society in 1981, works in the marketing services division, where she supervises 425 different mailings annually; 200-million packages a year, including catalogs, direct mail packages, renewal and billing programs; inserts, DRTV commercials, Web ads, space ads, and alternate media. The Society works with more than 40 agencies and freelancers to write and design their promotions, which are sent to more than 200 countries and territories around the world. Ms. Gardiner also is involved in brand management and media asset management programs for the Society. She is a member of the Direct Marketing Association’s ECHO Award Board of Directors.
